Official Start of Summer

I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited about the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.  Every year I look forward to this time of year:  Summer!

It makes me feel like a kid again.  Like I won’t have homework or teachers or tests for a couple of months.

I also remember my parents teaching me some financial skills during those childhood summers:

-Save half of the cash you’re paid for babysitting

-Put it into your savings account, not a piggy bank

-At the end of the summer you can buy one thing as a reward for your hard work

When my friends were struggling to pay for gas at 16, I actually had some money saved up (and gas was only like, $1.50 then! Oh the days!).

At Truliant, we offer the Dollar Dog Club that’s geared towards teaching children about financial skills; kind of like my parents did, but with fun games and tools instead!  All it takes is opening a savings account with $5.00, and you’re on your way to increasing your child’s financial success.

What are some of your favorite summer memories?  What memories are you planning to make this Memorial Day weekend?
