BLOG 26: We Have Space!

Boy the economy is depressed. Abigail and I looked at a bunch of places in New Brunswick searching for a place for the Credit Union to live. We think we found a great space. Since we have strong ties with our backers in San Francisco that we found a space that was a yoga studio and gym seems fitting. It is also next to a comedy club and accessible by all strata of New Brunswick and Highland Park society. The problem is that it is on the second floor. As someone pointed out, does that make us seem more elitist? We want to be found, in fact, we want to be woven into the fabric of community life.

Unfortunately ground level space is super expensive – more than twice as much for the same sq. footage so I think we will end up defying current conventions again and take it if it is still available when we open. Hey why not – every one else is open 9am to 3pm and we want to be open 4pm to 9pm. Why not be a floor up but make the space as inviting as possible. We plan to have free Wi-Fi and computers for our members and offer free voice mail for those who want it. We also plan to use the off hours to offer bi-lingual seminars on how to stay out of debt and save for homes and cars.

What do you think???
